Nasturtium

Reason # 78 - An Acre of Nasturtiums in all colors!

This flower is edible! The leaves are edible! The Hummingbirds love them! Multi purpose plants are always my favorite.

I've used the smallest, youngest leaves and diced them in ribbons to add to a salad. They have a mild, peppery flavor. The flowers have a little less pepper flavor and look so pretty mixed in a salad.

THEN - when these plants go to seed, you can pickle the seed pods and use them in place of CAPERS! THAT IS the reason I want to grow an acre of this plant. Not only are the plants beautiful and colorful, bonus on the seed pods.

Grown along the fence line and still had flowers late fall

Oh So Colorful!

Borage - also edible    I included an image of Borage. The flowers are edible but more research is needed on eating the leaves.  This plant gets really large and a million of these beautiful tiny flowers. It was said that this flower was Maria Antoinette' favorite.
